Bénédicte Bridelance Profit Center Manager – Colas Nord-Est – France – 3 years’ seniority
Overcoming challenges on a daily basis: that’s what I like about Colas! I was Design office manager at the Côte-d’Or profit center between 2016 and 2017, and then I was appointed profit center manager. My role involves listening to the 170 members and turning them into prime movers, encouraging them to be on the look out for opportunities of potential interest to us and to take the initiative. I find this job challenging and exciting, and I know I have the support of regional management and Colas head office.
Geoffroy Astor Quality and Logistics Technician – Colas Center-Ouest
I have been working at Colas since September 2005. I started as a site supervisor for 9 years; Then I worked as a surveyor for 3 years and I’m now a quality and logistics technician for work on EDF nuclear sites. What I like about Colas is belonging to an innovative, successful group that offers opportunities for growth and professional development.
Veronika Halajova HR & Legal Assistant – Colas Europe – Vienna – Austria – 6 years’ seniority
For me Colas represents an opportunity to obtain knowledge, learn new skills, get to know unforgettable colleagues and experience interesting projects. My start at Colas was one of the greatest experience working on a construction of nuclear power plant project in Slovakia, spending plenty of time on construction site translating for the Site Managers. Since Colas opened the way, mine has continued on to the head office of Colas Europe in Vienna, where I have worked for the last five years. There is also a “side effect” of working at Colas- maintenant, je parle français!
I am glad to work for the Colas Group. I started as an intern when I was a student. I learned alot from the experienced members of the team. They gave really good advice. As a Quantity surveyor, I provide support to projects across our agency, which is very enriching. I think working for a multinational group like Colas is very positive!
James Coupin Center Manager – Colas Geneva – Switzerland – 20 years’ seniority
I see Colas as a second home. And it has been since 1999, as I carried out my end-of-studies internship at Screg Sud-Est, Colas’ former railroad subsidiary, in Annecy, in the Haute-Savoie region of eastern France. I stayed on there as a project engineer until 2005. In January 2006, I moved to Geneva to join Colas Switzerland. I was appointed center manager in 2012. Whether I’m at work or at home, I like a bit of action! My career path has been shaped by the opportunities that have come along. What I like most about Colas is the autonomy I am given.
Amandine Jubin-Vaitanaki BIM Technical Support – Colas SA – Paris – France – 4 years’ seniority
Alain Jorge Truck driver and workplace first-aider trainer - Colas Midi-Méditerranée - France - 18 years’ seniority
I have been fascinated by trucks since I was a child and I have been driving trucks for more than thirty years. Even after all this time, I still get as much pleasure behind the wheel as always. I joined the Colas Group in 2001, and I was very soon asked to train to become a workplace first-aider. I felt that was a challenge that would help me continue to grow. My role is to provide first aid in the event of an accident on a jobsite and to conduct prevention initiatives, ensure site safety and raise employees’ awareness of the risks present throughout the year. On any given jobsite, some 40% of employees present are workplace first-aiders. We are all responsible for our own safety and for that of others. Safety is an unwavering value at Colas. It is so important to me that I jumped at the chance to become a workplace first-aider trainer myself.
Michel Clermont Automatic patching machine Operator – Losange d’Or Award Winner (2018) – Colas Rhône-Alpes Auvergne – France – 28 years’ seniority
I began my career as a printer and photoengraver. But I was fed up being shut away in an office so I retrained as a driver. In 1991, I joined Colas as a truck driver with the Privas profit center. Since 2001, he has been an automatic patching machine operator with the Valence profit center. I love to watch the sunrise first thing in the morning when I start work! Every jobsite is different and so is every landscape, every profit center’s team. There is always something new to discover when you work with older colleagues or people doing a different job to your own. I always want to learn and improve. That’s what I like about Colas.
Josef Lapso Agency Director – Colas CZ – Czech Republic – 9 years’ seniority
Thuriane de Lajudie Development Manager – Campus for Science and Techniques – France – 17 years’ seniority
I spent 16 years working in Smac’s central laboratory in Magny-les-Hameaux. When I turned 44, I realized I wanted a new environment, new experiences and a new role. I got my wish! In 2018, I was appointed Development Manager at the CST. I’m learning brand new skills again, and I find it very motivating! While taking on a new role with all the support I needed, I took part in a new training program dedicated to women. The program is designed to develop confidence, assertiveness and leadership skills. I’m proud to be one of the 12 women from across the Colas Group who were selected to benefit from the program.
Philippe Leyendecker Head of Equipment – Copernic – Vélizy – France – 40 years’ seniority
I remember Colas’ 50th anniversary in ’79 because it was the year I got hired in Dijon. On this occasion, we were all given a watch engraved with the Colas logo and 1929 – 1979. It’s a lovely souvenir, and I still have it, even as I approach retirement after 40 years in the Group.

Robert Charial (1927-2016) President of Colas from 1975 to 1984
Robert Charial began working at Colas as soon as he graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique in 1951. He spent his entire career in the Group. Working first in the technical department of the head office, then in branch offices around France, he moved on to join the Colas Côte d'Ivoire subsidiary in 1956 before spending several years in Algeria. In 1962, he was sent to Canada by Georges Raveau to study opportunities for the Group, where he helped acquire Fabi and Modern Paving in Quebec, the mergers of which will lead to the creation of Sintra. Back in France in 1967, he turned the company around in the southwest, then took over the management of international units for the Group. Robert Charial played a major role in the creation of Cofiroute in 1970. He became CEO in 1974 and was appointed to the Board of Directors. He was then tapped to be Chairman and CEO of Colas from 1975 to 1984.
Colas is a wonderful group that helps me progess, from graduation to today. I am very grateful that all the collaborators I met have been able to teach me, and continue to teach me every day. After a 6-month internship at the Technical and Development Department, my desire to work at Colas was stronger than ever! I had the opportunity to continue the adventure with a Tour de France of construction projects, which allowed me to deal with operating problems and also see a lot of sights! I am now in cost engineering, which helps me complete my global vision of Public Works and learn more. I am happy to say that my career is already diversified and cross disciplinary. Colas has allowed me to take initiatives and has trusted me. The idea of building the road of tomorrow with the innovations Colas makes me want to continue the adventure.
Sarmed Asadie Project Manager in Highway Division – Colas Canada – E Construction Ltd – Edmonton – Canada 6 years’
Colas is a secure, healthy environment to grow.
Aline Claustre Head of editorial communication – Colas SA – Paris – France – 6 months’ seniority
Daniel Lafrance Assistant General Counsel, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer - Colas Inc. - USA - 14 years’ seniority
You can’t watch over a company’s ethics from behind a desk. I was formerly a litigation lawyer, but since 2005, I have worked in the field. I keep going out to meet Colas teams across the United States to help build a culture of ethics. Every employee needs to be aware of the Compliance Program and our Code of Conduct, so we can build our culture and reputation, something that our customers really care about. There is something at Colas that I am really sensible to: it’s how each and every one of us is concerned about trust and respect.
Kevin Rickard & Dennis Rickard Electrical contracts manager & Electricity Site Supervisor – Colas UK – 26 & 31 years’ seniority
After 25 years at Colas UK, we’re still here… enjoying what we do! Street lighting specialists for Colas’ Integrated Transport Systems (ITS) division, we have made Brighton and its highways their favorite stamping ground. Dennis has been with the company for 31 years. Kevin joined the group 26 years ago as an apprentice electrician. It’s a privilege for us to operate as a team. We understand one another perfectly. It also allows us to spend more time together, outside family gatherings. What we like about Colas is that there’s never a dull moment!
Jana Nevosadova Chief Accountant of Organizational Unit – Colas CZ – Czech Republic– 34 years’ seniority
Minh Szabo Quality-Safety-Environment (QSE) Manager - Colas Rail - France
Bon anniversaire, Colas !
Isabelle Chanas Training and Skills Management Supervisor – Colas Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne – Lyon – France – 20 years’
Colas is a healthy company. What I like is that it offers prospects for the future. It gives the opportunity to evolve and change jobs during a career.

Rick Tamburro Vice-President MILLER MCASPHALT - Canada - 27 years’ seniority
I have worked at Miller McAsphalt in turn as a laborer, foreman, operations manager, then general manager. On the Miller McAsphalt’s 100th anniversary in 2017, I was given a plaque in recognition of 25 years of service. Less than 600 employees have ever received this award. And I am very proud to be one of them. My relationship with the company actually goes back even further: my father, Dominic Tamburro, joined Miller McAsphalt back in 1960 as a truck driver. Between us, we’ve notched up 75 years at the company! When I was 8 years old, going out to jobsites with my dad on weekends was a huge adventure. I took my sleeping bag, and my mother made up a picnic lunch for both of us... I have some great memories of those days. What I like about Colas is how loyalty, trust and respect, are valued.

Laurence Tisserand Ingénieur Chargée d’études Premys – L’Hay-les-Roses – France – 7 ans d’ancienneté
At Colas, I am entitled to express daily my “green” awareness. As an Environment Manager, I work to reduce the impact of our activities without borders. I have had the opportunity to do it in France, but also on major projects in Madagascar and Romania. I am proud to have helped design an awareness-raising campaign aimed at jobsite teams in 2019, structured around ten commitments made by Colas IDFN to make its jobsites more acceptable.
François Georges Associate Director – Commercial Finance – Colas Limited – United Kingdom – 9 years’ seniority
I like the career development opportunities offered to Group employees who are ready to take up the challenge. I have been moving from Paris to Bangkok, Jakarta and now London since I began working for Colas, which means different positions and activities each time but also different people, cultures and ways of working. Such an exciting experience.
What I like about Colas is the trust that my managers have always shown. Their trust is reflected in the autonomy and independence I have in my job
Environmental supervisors are free to create and adapt their tools to fit with specific local situations. And the pooling of tools and approaches on share platforms allows Colas to be a dynamic, stimulating idea laboratory.

Fabienne Stein Head of Communication - 1 year seniority - Colas Nord Est
For me, working at Colas means being part of a big group, but also interacting with many small, human-sized units (support services, profit centers, quarries, industries), each of which is an expert in their field and well-integrated in their local ecosystem. My job is to highlight the work of teams in the field and to meet their communication needs. What I like about Colas is the passion for the job and the daily involvement of employees whatever their function. I find working in construction particularly endearing and exciting.
